Discover our Do you know? series on history in partnership with the Groupe de recherche sur les archives et les femmes en Acadie (GRAFA) and the Musée acadien de l'Université de Moncton!

Through their poetry, characters and makeup, Xavier Gould challenges the social norms of contemporary Acadian identity to include people from the trans and queer community.

Based in Moncton since 2017, after graduating from Mount Allison University with a degree in Arts and Letters, they are known for their dynamic alter-ego Jass-Sainte Bourque and their drag character Chiquita Mère.

Xavier was named Cultural Personality of the Year (Acadie Nouvelle 2018 and L'Étoile 2017), received the Viola Léger Award in 2019 and was named to Francopresse's 2020 list of influential personalities of the Canadian Francophonie.
